do i have to wear wraps and boxing gloves at the same time?
so, im new to boxing, in fact i just signed up today, i bought the wraps becuase they were the last pair they had and i needed to get them … and im going to use a pair of the gym’s loaner gloves, (yeah theyre icky , theyre sweaty but i cant get a new pair just yet) so do i have to wear wraps and boxing gloves at the same time?
i have the mexican wraps by the way, i dont know if that has any effect , but oh well

in boxing your hands are your tools. So you take care of them. Since you are new in this, expect a lot of badly placed punches on the bags. They hurt. They still hurt the next day.
Your hands have a multitude of bones, ligaments, tendons, etc. Punching is very demanding, and all it takes is one injury to put your boxing training on ice – pun intended.
The wraps are just part of it; properly applied they compact your hands and basically do what your teeth guard does = spread the impact and keep your hand (and bones and ligaments) together. You’ll want to get some experience here in applying them, so you find which tolerance you have for them. Too loose and your hands will go in an ice bucket fast. to tight and you have no feeling in your hand or feel your blood pounding in them. Both are bad = you have to feel the compression without feeling discomfort by it.
Bottom line = ALWAYS wrap your hands, and if you by gloves or bag gloves, fit these with your hands wrapped.
