Do my 1 year old baby needs a passport to travel from USA to Mexico?
This is my first baby and I am planning to go to Mexico to visit my relatives.
Does he needs a passport to travel outside USA? What documents do I need for him?
I also want to get a USA passport for myself and I would like to know what documents do I need and where can I get applications?

I will make this very simple, if you are traveling by air or traveling farther into Mexico than 25 miles then yes you both need passports. Exception travel in the Baja.
Currently Mexico is still allowing US adult citizens to enter their country by land and travel within 25 miles of the border with a driver’s license and birth certificate, but you may be delayed when you return to the US if you do not have a passport, passport card, or other approved ID. Children 15 years old or younger may use a copy of their birth certificates for travel by land. All adults and children need to have a passport to fly to Mexico, and children traveling without both their parents should have a letter from their parents authorizing the travel. For your passport application you need to go a passport office or your local post office.
1. Fill Out Form DS-11: Application For A U.S. Passport
2. Submit Completed Form DS-11 In Person
3. Submit Evidence of U.S. Citizenship
4. Present Identification
5. Submit a Photocopy of the Identification Document(s) Presented (Step 4)
6. Pay the Applicable Fee
7. Provide Two Passport Photos
For your baby’s passport application;
1. Complete Form DS-11: Application For A U.S. Passport
2. Submit Form DS-11: Application For A U.S. Passport In Person
3. Submit Child’s Evidence of U.S. Citizenship
4. Submit Evidence of Relationship Between Child and Parent(s)/Guardian(s)
5. Present Identification of Parent(s)/Guardian(s)
6. Submit a Photocopy of Each Parent/Guardian ID Document To Be Presented (Step 5)
7. Provide Parental Consent
8. Pay the Applicable Fee
9. Submit Two Passport Photos
You will need the following for both you and your baby;
A certified birth certificate it must has a registrar’s raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar’s signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar’s office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. Some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes.
