What are karate competitions or any MMA like?
Do they beat each other up like in UFC ? Wins are by descioin, TKO, or submission. Is it who ever lands more punches in one minuet ? Or who ever knocks the other person to the floor ?
Karate tournaments are nothing like the UFC events and focus more on integrity and honor within competition. They vary from no contact to full contact depending on the event and the association promoting it. Points also very depending on the association. In some events a single, perfectly executed and aimed technique with proper control and Kime can win a match. In others you have to score anywhere from three to five points. In full contact Karate the better fighter who used control, strategy, timing, distancing and soundly ran the fight wins unless someone is knocked out and then the one still standing wins by KO.
Keep in mind I am talking about authentic Karate events…not the typical sport crap that people see. Real Karate tournaments place more emphasis on winning and losing with honor and dignity than just winning some stupid contest. The only reward is the experience and sometimes a trophy…there are no money rewards because real Karateka fight for honor and not money.
