Why do you twist your fist while punching?
does it make it stronger? cut them open? Also how do you do it properly like twist it just as you hit the target, just before the target or right when you start the punch?
The power of a straight punch comes from the fact that it is hitting the target straight on. As an analogy what do you think makes a greater impact, two cars hitting each other head on, or if the other car is turning?
If you are not twisting the fist then most probably you’re starting the punch with elbows out. That means the fore arm would travel a path that’s more circular. You start twisting the punch just before you hit the target. Not right when you start the punch because that would throw your elbow out.
Also what people said about tearing the skin is true as well, but I don’t think it would be significant enough in causing cuts. Cuts usually happen on parts of the body with less muscle and more bone, like the head.
