Split cage method for gerbils?
I have decided to illadvisedly put two male gerbils together.
I know the basics.
Any tips on introducing them? I am going to make the split, I have a spare temp tank (fish tank), strong gloves etc., but is there anything that helps aside from time?
They won’t kill each other; not according to all the sites I visisted. –;
yeah do the split cage with mesh so they can smell eachother without them being able to physically harm
swap them regularly so they become accustumed to eachothers scent, but not so regularly that they don’t have time to settle because if they sleep in the others nest this is awlays good
keep swapping for about a week and then try remove the split and hopefully they should be fine. if not use ur gloves to split them and try again
it will work
its worked for me 2 out of 2 times
oh also when you remove the split put lots of toilet rolls or distractions in that are new and maybe more or just as interesting as the other gerbil
