What soft, cushion material can I use for slightly padding something and where can I get it?
I recently bought a leather boot which I was very fond of. Because I have a very thin structure including thin ankles, most footwear either fits my ankles and pinches my toes or leaves my toes some room but is too loose around the ankles. Normally I just get the loose ankle size and lace up tightly, but this boot has no lacing or fastening, it is only slip-on.
The boot has the correct amount of length for my toes, and I reduced the space at the back somewhat by using an insole. However the bottom of the shin to the top of the instep is still loose and I would like to stitch something, some sort of cushiony padding that gives and squashes, to that part of the inside of the boot. But I have no idea what to use. I simulated using a sock but it was not flexible enough in terms of give.
So basically my question is this: what material is soft, about 1/2 inch thick, and that compresses like a cushion when pressure is put on it?
look in the same place that you got the insoles.
look for “moleskin” its special padding for use with feet, has an adhesive backing to stick it in place.
