How hard does an average person punch in terms of PSI?
Is anyone informed of what is the PSI of a punch from an average human? Keeping in mind that MMA fighters like Rampage Jackson have punches around 2000PSI.

I recall reading sometime back that the average person hits with about 45-85 PSI and I would tend to agree with that. While they can hit hard enough to break a board that only takes about 18-25 PSI they pull off for fear of hurting their hand unlike when they hit a heavy bag instead. Trained fighters hit much harder which is why people come to me for lessons among other reasons. I take guys bigger and physically stronger than me who hit 25-40% as hard as me and teach and show them how to hit closer to 80-90% as hard as I can which is a big jump when you think about it. Don’t forget though that many are bigger and stronger than me and that last 10-20% that I still have over them is technique developed over years of training.
I don’t believe that Jackson’s punch is quite that hard since Liddell’s is only around 500-600 PSI but I am sure it is up there around that as well. That is considerably harder than what the average Joe can who walks into my school which is about what I have observed in my years of teaching. Occasionally you will also have a guy walk in that can punch harder than 45-85 PSI and hit probably in the 200-250 PSI range but that’s unusual unless they have had some type of training.
