Is my boxing trainer moving me up too fast? PLEASE HELP!!?
Yesturday i had my first boxing lesson and i did pretty good on the heavy bag, punch mitts, etc. and when i was leaving he told me that i could have my first amateur fight in month or month and a half. I want to fight as soon as possiable but month goes by very fast. Also when do u think ill start sparring?
dude you haven’t even started sparring? i would definitely get in the ring first and see how you do against others.
if you only had your first boxing lesson, you’ve probably got a long ways to go.
you can start sparring right now if you get your equipment and an opponent.
since it would be on your amateur record, i would be more prepared, as it seems you are not confident enough to fight at the amateur level.
then again, maybe your trainer sees something in you and you are good enough and naturally talented.
just to give you an idea, at the college level where our fights were a part of USA boxing, we could qualify after 6 months of experience, or unless you were a natural at it.
