In kickboxing how are a side kick and roundhouse kick diffrent?

A side kick is deliverd in a linear motion. (straight forward) with the foot turned horizontally with floor hitting with either the outter edge of the foot or the heel. A roundhouse kick comes around (semi circular)and can be deliverd from several different angles and use different foot forms.
