What’s your level 1 Muay Thai class like?
My lvl 1 MT class: 2 rounds of jump rope, approx. 2 rounds of shadow boxing: (jabs, crosses, uppercuts, footjabs, and footwork). Then it’s on to like 6-10 rounds of focus mitts and about 6 rounds of thai pads. SOmetimes, belly pads are involved somewhere in there. After all that, we usually do ball training, 70 pushups, and then we do two sets of 50 pushups each with our pads partner. And then 4 streching excersises that last 25 seconds each.
What’s your level 1 MT class like?
there are levels at my gym… but it has nothing to do with how we train (I am not even sure what it is about) … but our class is 4 days a week for 1.5 hours each, the first two days we do stretching … then 6 rounds of focus mitts… then we work different sparring techiniques.. then to finish the class we work with Thai pads (basically to the point of exhaustion)… the third day starts out with sparring drills, changing partners every round, then to boxing, then to kickboxing (full free sparring), and we finish the class by rounds of clinch sparring (usually about 15-20 rounds (3 minute round 1 minute break) total)… and the last day of the week is all full sparring … again changing partners every round… its nice to have to have some new guys so you can slow down and work with them.. and it is almost like a round off for me… I am only 4 months in and am out of shape (with a Martial Arts backgorund many years ago decent shape for the average guy, but no compared to the guys that have been doing MT for over 5 years), when I first started I gassed after the first 3 rounds and it was all defense from there.. trying to keep my head attached to my shoulders… but now I can put up a fight for 7- 10 rounds, but still after that I am gassed and take a good beating
… Anyway that is what my gym is like… yours?
