Winter gear for Rochester(upstate New York)?
Hii,
I am an international student studying at RIT(rochester). This is going to be my first winter here and we didnt have such a cold weather back home.
So I have no idea what kind of winter accessories will I be needing. After a bit of research I am planning to buy the following items :
1. Thermal inner wear (3-4 pairs)
2. Gloves (2 pairs)
3. Woolen Socks ( 4 pairs)
4. Cap and Scarf ( 2 pairs)
5. Heavy Winter Jacket
I have a couple of questions regarding this
1. Is my list ok for winter here?
2. What kind of gloves should I get woolen/leather/something else?
3. Will a woolen scarf and cap do?
4. What material jacket should I buy? Leather/wool?
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me regarding this.

Your list sounds fine. Make sure to also get some good boots, as there will be alot of snow. I think woolen gloves are fine…you might also consider a pair of fleece lined gloves. A woolen scarf and hat are good…maybe even a ski mask to protect from the blowing winds. A wool jacket should also be okay. You also might want to consider a couple of nice pullover sweaters, and a couple of turtleneck shirts. You sound well prepared. Good luck.
