What is the best boat fender to buy to protect a boat?
I have used air filled fenders that are punctured by shell growth and barnacles on a concrete pier during low tides that leaves my 56′ yacht vulnerable against the concrete pier. I have tried everything, floating inflatable fenders, tires, other commercial products… styrofoam fenders… etc…. and all are destroyed by shell growth or abrasion from the concrete pier I welcome any out of the box ideas or information on commercial products that I’m not aware of. Thanks a heap.
David has it nailed as to size and mounting. If you hang it on a piling or fixed dock it will not move with your boat as the tide changes. I like the 9-10 cylinder shape for smaller boats and have used 2 of the 30″ round floats or buoys as fenders on 40′ sailboat. They hung from the boomgallows while underway.
