My hanging flower baskets get aphids EVERY year. I can’t stand them. I get the green, black AND red ones.?
I spray a mixture of dish soap and vegetable oil on them but it is temporary and ends up making a sticky mess. Ladybugs do the job when they come to visit and hatch eggs on the leaves but my homemade concoction deters the ladybugs. Any other tried and true solutions?
I meant to say my homemade mixture was water, dish soap and oil. But it still makes a sticky mess allover my porch.
There are some granular systemic insecticides that you can mix into the soil that will be absorbed by the flowers and make them poisonous to the insects but won’t effect the pollinators. Check out your local garden center for the right product.
