how can i make a roof bracket for my boxing bag?
how can i make a roof bracket for my punching bag?
i would make a wall brace easy but i have a 2 car garage with a hardwood beam across the middle of the roof that i would like to hang my boxing bags on it
with a wall brace it wont allow me to have a full 360 degrees around it. so i a had an idea of putting a brace up in the middle of beam
and i don’t know how i can make one
please tell me how or give me a link or photo

I’m going to assume that you have at least a 10″ beam. There are many ways to accomplish this, here’s one that I’ve used successfully…
1. Begin by drilling a half-inch hole through the beam where you want to hang your bag.
Make sure this hole is at least half way up the side of the beam. You want plenty of wood below
it.
2. Get a 4 inch by half-inch bolt, 4 half-inch washers, and 1 half-inch nut.
3. Also get a short piece (about 15 inches) of HEAVY chain.
4. Put 1 washer on the bolt, followed by 1 end of the chain, followed by another washer.
5. Insert the bolt through the hole in the beam.
6. Put on another washer, followed by the other end of the chain, followed by another washer.
7. Put on the final nut and tighten.
This will give you a very solid and safe mounting. I would also recommend getting a porch swing spring to hang from the chain. You will then attach the mounting ring on the bag to the bottom of the spring. This will help to absorb a lot of the energy & cut down on the noise.
